CEMETERY BLUES SESSION

I had a feeling, something was coming. I was watching “Devil at the crossroad” a documentary about Robert Johnson on Netflix. It starts explaining his early life, the loss of his wife of childbirth, his closure to hoodoo and the whole legend itself. Well, as the story goes Robert learned to master his skills playin’ in graveyards, at midnight.

So I thought to shoot a video of me paying tribute to Robert Johnson – Me & The Devil, in a graveyard in East London. It was a cold evening, late January. The whole park was empty and the atmosphere was warming me up.

He who seeks will find.

COLORBLIND

Along with my talented friend @_tesera, we decided to shoot some portraits in a studio at London Metropolitan University, near Aldgate East. The idea behind the mood board was to recreate a colorful scenario, based on formal menswear and vivid backgrounds. My first idea was to get inspiration from some old David Bowie studio shoot, especially from the Ziggy era. He was a master in bringing strong colors on camera and match them with original outfits.

For this photoshoot I’m wearing:

Teal outfit: Vivienne Westwood waistcoat jacket and trousers, Vera Black feather hair clip and chain bracelets bought at Salvation Army charity shop in Mayfair, London.

White outfit: River Island blazer, black cameo pin with AllSaints shirts.

Purple outfit: The Grateful Thread suit and Cheaney x Vivienne Westwood Seditionaries Punk boots

SHOOT #5 – GREAT THINGS AWAIT

Nothing comes for free and we really don’t need things to be gifted to us.

It’s the magical journey of illusion, search, and discoveries. Being a human has no meaning but the one you choose everyday. We’ve been up, we’ve been down. The feeling of owning your own life is still a privilege nowadays and working hard towards earning your mental stability is a duty to our evolution.

“…and reinvent your life because you must;
it is your life and
its history
and the present
belong only to
you.”
 – Charles Bukowski

Raise your own God and be a kind creature, raise from the ground your sisters, your brothers. Raise yourself standing for what’s right in your mind. Glorify nature and learn to swim countercurrent.

In the pictures above I’m wearing:  Nicole Fahri black velvet suit I bought at Camden Thrift Store in Camden Town, a King Eduard white shirt, a chain bracelet from a charity shop, a cowboy chain belt worn as a necklace. Earring is from Greenwich Market – London.

SHOOT #4 – TBV

Those days strolling around Notting Hill were filled with light. At the time, I was working at the Windsor Castle Pub in Campden Hill Road after I refused what would have been my first work in fashion in a clothing store in Westbourne Grove. Regardless the rich surroundings, some of London best vintage stores sit in this area.
Has been a healing routine of mine: get off the bus on the main road and start walking on a Sunday morning my way down Portobello Road. I’m just mellowed by the area, walking trough old garments that some rich man left behind, you can find rare gems to match your wallet. Ain’t a fast walk, not one of those I perform rollin’ towards work. I walk rather slow, looking around, stopping for a coffee or a pint and I just keep my eye on any cloth who could change my wardrobe in better. I read a book sitting in an outdoor table along Portobello.

I bought this Jaeger teal blue two piece suit in Retro Clothing for less than £10 pounds. God bless that place. I wear it with my Cowboy Necklace, a necklace that reminds me of a rosary, an old film camera and a scarf I bought in Brick Lane.

Peace to West London.

I received this t-shirt as a gift for my 18th birthday, I believe. In those days I was singing in a rock band called Tumble Weed and we all really loved Guns n’ Roses…but this hasn’t changed with time. The t-shirt used to have a tight neckline and I didn’t like that. So I went home, took the scissors and cut open the neckline, giving it this look which I still love. The necklace is from Greenwich Market, I bought it for 5£.

I do agree that fashion is female, but men never accepted to push any boundary and that’s where The Blues Victim stands, I walk the wire.

the-bluebird

there’s a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I’m too tough for him,
I say, stay in there, I’m not going
to let anybody see
you.

there’s a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I pour whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the whores and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he’s
in there.

there’s a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I’m too tough for him,
I say,
stay down, do you want to mess
me up?
you want to screw up the
works?
you want to blow my book sales in
Europe?

there’s a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I’m too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody’s asleep.
I say, I know that you’re there,
so don’t be
sad.

then I put him back,
but he’s singing a little
in there, I haven’t quite let him
die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it’s nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don’t
weep, do
you?
